Description
The Motion Designer creates high-quality motion graphics and animations for ITCH Media, producing visually engaging content for a variety of brands and platforms. They design and animate style frames, build assets, and work across both pure animation projects and motion graphics integrated into live-action footage.
They also contribute to ITCH internal projects, applying their skills to create content that supports the agency’s own initiatives and brand presence. They work closely with producers, editors, and other creatives to keep projects on track, meet deadlines, and deliver optimised content for the intended platforms.
The Motion Designer maintains a high standard of craft across all work, actively develops new skills, stays up to date with animation trends and tools, and brings fresh thinking to the motion department to help push creative boundaries. This role is best suited to a mid-weight Motion Designer building on a solid foundation, rather than a senior or lead-level animator.
Key Skills
- 2–4 years experience in creating social first motion graphics.
- Highly experienced with Adobe Creative Cloud (including Premiere, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Expert knowledge of After Effects.
- Knowledge of workflows within a post production environment.
- HD codecs and workflows.
- Strong all-round design skills, with a good understanding of typography and branding.
- Good understanding of 2D animation principles.
- Good understanding of digital marketing & social media.
- Ability to manage the successful delivery of fast-paced media projects to the required standard and deadlines.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- An enthusiasm for sharing and discussing ideas as part of the creative ideation stage.
- Proficiency in using communication and project management tools (ideally Slack and Scoro).
- Extremely hard-working and willing to take on additional responsibilities as required.
Responsibilities
Main Responsibility
- Deliver high-quality motion graphics and animation work across a range of client and internal ITCH projects, ensuring all outputs meet brand guidelines and project requirements.
- Contribute creative ideas, design assets, and animation solutions that enhance project delivery and align with ITCH’s creative standards.
- Maintain accuracy, organisation, and consistency across all motion outputs while meeting agreed deadlines.
The day-to-day
- Make things move!
- Ideate and create motion graphics elements including text animation, 2D vector animation, animating logos and where relevant adhering to brand guidelines.
- Managing briefs from concept through to completion, making sure it hits the required deadlines and meets the agreed criteria and design style.
- Create bespoke graphic elements and think of new ways to illustrate core messaging across creative assets.
- Create visually striking style frames that push the creative boundaries for each project.
- Translate brand assets into custom motion graphics elements.
- Collaborate with other members of the creative team to drive creative innovation and produce video content to the highest possible standard.
- Manage creative requirements, expectations, and deadlines for your projects.
- Creating informative animations and assets from static images to tell a complete story.
- Skillfully turning concepts and style frames into visually striking, comprehensible animations that resonate with target markets.
- Responsible for developing creative concepts into world-class branded content across multiple touchpoints.
- Take ownership of your entire part of the design process from concept to delivery.
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure solutions meet or exceed our clients’ strategic objectives.
- Working on multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meeting deadlines and supporting your team members to meet theirs.
- Contribute to establishing the workflows within the team including freelancers.
- Following the correct design processes and creating high-quality deliverables for projects.
- Be on hand to support and skill share with any junior members of the team.
- Helping the Studio Manager scope projects and giving time estimates needed to complete your work.
