Description
The Studio Assistant supports the smooth day-to-day running of ITCH Media's studio, office, kit room and shoots. It's a hybrid role split across the working week: 3 days based in the studio and office, and 2 days on location supporting the production team on shoots.
On studio/office days, you'll keep the studio, office, and kit room well-organised, tidy, and fully operational, overseeing the booking, maintenance, and readiness of the agency's kit, and acting as the go-to person for general upkeep, repairs, restocking, and smaller IT tasks, including basic server admin and hardware support.
On shoot days, you'll be out on location with the production team, getting kit ready before the shoot, and helping store it away at the end of the day, capturing fun and engaging behind-the-scenes (BTS) content for our social channels, and providing hands-on support to the filmmakers, DOPs, and Directors so shoots run smoothly.
It's a varied, hands-on role for someone who's as comfortable keeping a studio running like clockwork as they are in the thick of a fast-paced shoot.
Key Skills
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Good knowledge of camera, lighting, and studio equipment, comfortable with both maintaining it and shooting on it
- Basic understanding of IT hardware and server systems (training provided if needed)
- A genuine passion for video production and content creation, with some knowledge of editing for short-form content
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a real team player who works well across departments
- A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving, with reliability and a positive, can-do attitude
- Comfortable with manual handling and basic maintenance tasks
- A hunger for helping create award-winning content, both in the studio and out on shoots
Responsibilities
Main Responsibility
- Maintain the organisation, cleanliness, and operational readiness of the office, studio, and kit room
- Manage and oversee the kit booking system, ensuring all equipment is logged, maintained, and ready for use, both in studio and out on location
- Provide hands-on, on-set support during location shoots, capturing BTS content and assisting the production team with general shoot assistant duties
The day-to-day — In the studio/office (3 days)
- Keep the office, studio, and kit room tidy, organised, and safe for all staff and visitors
- Manage the kit booking system, ensuring accurate tracking of equipment in and out
- Conduct regular kit checks, arranging repairs or replacements as needed
- Ensure all kit is safely stored, labelled, and easy to locate
- Restock office supplies, including kitchen and stationery items, as required
- Coordinate and oversee minor office repairs or maintenance work, liaising with contractors where necessary
- In charge of all items delivered to the office and support the producers with any returns
- Organise and track all props
- Ensure all hired kit for shoots is packaged and returned safely to the client or rental company
- Support with small-scale IT tasks, including basic server admin and IT hardware setup
- Assist with in-office shoots, ensuring the studio is set up, prepared, and reset after use
- Provide first-line support for IT equipment and software, including Scoro, Hubspot, HiBob, and Google Workspace, escalating to external support if required
- Help manage general storage areas to keep them organised and accessible
- Assist the Studio Manager with any operational or facilities-related tasks
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained across the studio and office spaces
- Support the onboarding of new staff with workspace and IT setup
The day-to-day — On location (2 days)
- Get the kit ready before the shoot and help store it away safely at the end of the day
- Set up and break down equipment on location, making sure everything is in full working order
- Organise the props and accessories needed for each shoot
- Capture behind-the-scenes (BTS) content, both stills and video, for use across our social channels
- Assist with post-production to create impactful BTS content for ITCH socials
- Assist the post-production team with proxying footage after the shoot
- Assist with DIT on and after the shoot to ensure all footage is safely backed up
- Support the Production team with admin tasks that keep shoots running smoothly, including scheduling, appointments, and travel arrangements
- Help maintain organised records and files for each shoot and project
- Manage and process crew receipts when needed
- Be a flexible extra pair of hands on set, whether running or assisting the camera, lighting, sound, or producing departments
- Meet, greet, and look after any clients attending the shoot
- Adhere to on-location safety procedures at all times
